Happy St Patrick's Day!
This half term is a very busy one for Reception. We have celebrated Shrove Tuesday by making lots of pancakes and choosing some of our favourite toppings followed by a trip to the Transport Museum in Covent Garden to tie in with our topic 'Transport and Journeys'.
This half term our topic is 'Celebrations'. We have been learning lots about different celebrations that take place not only in England but in different parts of the world. We celebrated the Harvest Festival and reflected on all of the things we are thankful for. We also made some very tasty vegetable soup and shared it with the children in Nursery who kindly shared the bread they had made with us!
The children have settled in very well in Reception. We have been busy getting to know each other and lots of new friendships have been formed!
This term our topic is 'Ourselves'. The children are thinking about what they would like to be when they grow up or what their dream job is. We had a special visitor, Joe Mersh (a former Olympic runner), who talked to the children about her achievements and the steps she took along the way.
The children thoroughly enjoyed her visit and were reminded that they can achieve their dreams and anything is possible when they put there mind to it!
