The study of history has an impact on children’s learning both inside and outside the classroom. Children use a wide range of intellectual skills through the study of historical enquiry and the study of history encourages children to test evidence and distinguish between fact and opinion. Children will learn about the lives of various individuals and societies in the past. They will learn to identify common theories that have shaped the lives of people before them. In turn, this knowledge will give them a strong sense of identity, fire their curiosity about the world and provide a context for their future in society.
