St. Dominic’s Boys’ and Girls’ football teams took part in the Camden inter-school Football League Tournament last term and were wonderful representatives for the school. The Boys’ team played consistently strongly throughout their Tournament and we’re delighted to let you know they came second out of the twenty-four schools taking part.
As league winners they took part in a final championship ‘play off’ event on the 27th February against the five other schools who topped the league. The Boys’ played three matches and although they did not make it through to the final matches, it was an exciting end to a very successful schools tournament. The schools taking part this week also had interesting weather conditions to deal with and well done to all the teams who braved the cold and made it such a great event.
The photo below shows the team receiving their Tournament runners up trophy and medals – in a snowshower! Fortunately we got back to school before the weather was any worse and the second photo shows the team celebrating together! The boys looked very professional in their brand new football kits!
Congratulations to our amazing team, we are very proud of how they worked together to support and encourage each other, not just at the championship event but throughout the tournament. They showed real sportsmanship and were always gracious to their competitors, whether they won or lost matches. Thank you to all the boys. A very big thank you also to our wonderful PE coach Souleymane and PE Leader Miss Knight for all their hard work coaching and encouraging the children and accompanying them to matches. Thank you also to the parents who joined the children (both Boys’ and Girls’ teams) at matches over the last few months and this week, they’ve really valued your support.
Well done Robin, Callum, Max, Harvey, Alem, Hosael, Danny, Sonny M, Kacper,
Sonny F-B and Munya!
