‘World Book Day’ was celebrated in school on Friday 3rd March with a whole-school focus on reading. Children took part in reading themed activities to help encourage an enjoyment of reading, for example older pupils being paired up with younger pupils to read fiction stories.
All pupils had the opportunity to create costumes and dress up as their favourite book characters. We had a lot of Harry Potters, Gangster Grannies and Princesses! Staff had lots of fun making their own costumes and dressing up! Cruella De Vil was a favourite amongst pupils and staff! Can you spot them in the photos below?
Classes celebrated their work and costumes at ‘World Book Day’ assemblies and a book prize was awarded to a pupil in each class. Thank you to our Literacy Leader in school, Miss O’Toole, for all her work organising World Book Day and thank you to parents/carers and family members for your support with the costumes. Take a look at the photographs below from the day!
