Camden has a great tradition of promoting and supporting music in both primary and secondary schools and this is a part of the curriculum we also feel is very important at St. Dominic’s. The children enjoy the opportunity to take part in singing and music lessons and different assemblies and plays during the year.
The Year 6 children have formed our School Choir this year and have already taken part in a performance in the local community before Christmas and led the singing at school celebrations. They have been preparing for the Camden Music Festival over the last few weeks, practising at school with their teachers and Mr Gamage, our music teacher, and also at other local schools.
On Monday evening the children had the wonderful opportunity to perform as a choir at the Royal Albert Hall, along with choirs from all the other schools in Camden. The children sang very confidently and successfully and we were very proud of how well they worked together to make this event so enjoyable and memorable. Well done to Year 6, you were great ambassadors for the school and sounded amazing!
A very big thank you Miss Knight, Ms Hills and Ms Guppy who have worked with the children to help them achieve this high standard and also accompanied them to the Festival. A very special thanks must also go to Mr Gamage for his fantastic work helping the children develop their talents and enjoyment of music, we are very fortunate to have such talented staff working with our children. It was also lovely to see so many parents and other staff at the concert supporting the children!
