Celebrating our Work! South America and the Rainforest!
Year 5 celebrated their learning at the end of our topic 'South America and the Rainforest' by creating a double page spread in their books. Year 5 loved being able to design their work how they liked and to be as creative as possible. I'm sure you will agree that they have made a fantastic effort showing off their brilliant learning!
NSPCC Assembly: Speak out! Stay Safe!
Year 5 enjoyed an important assembly from NSPCC. During the assembly we learned the importance of speaking out if something is troubling us. We learned about Childline, the NSPCC's free 24hr hotline just for children and talked about adults in our lives we trust.
St Peter Christmas Fundraiser Donations
A huge thank you to the children and parents in year 5 for your generous donations to Camden Food Bank for our Christmas fundraiser. Your donations will be gratefully recieved during this time.
Advent
As Advent begins, Year 5 have been looking at the symbols of this time of jouful preparation. We looked at a range of Advent prayers and discussed how 'light' is important when we think about Advent and the coming of Jesus.
The children made watercolour paintings to represent the colours and symbols of Advent.
Christmas Fundraiser 2020 - Donate to Camden Food Bank!
Year 5 have been making posters to raise awareness of St Dominic's Christmas fundraiser. This year we are asking for donations to Camden Food Bank. These could be items of long-life food and toiletries.
Watch out for our posters around school!

FRIDA KHALO Self Portraits
In Art, Year 5 have been studying Frida Khalo! We have learned about her life and work, and studied her self-portraits in a critical way, by asking questions and discussing the effect of her colours, symbols and techniques.
We made our own versions of her self-portraits. Some of us chose to change the colours of Khalo's portraits to make it surreal!
We will be making our own self-portraits in her style over the next couple of weeks so keep your eyes peeled!
READING GIVES YOU WINGS
In Year 5, we know how important it is to read everyday! We have been discussing our favourite books and explaining why we enjoy them. We gave recommendations to other children in the class based on their interests, likes and dislikes. We enjoyed sharing our ideas and listening to others.
HERE WE ARE
HERE WE ARE
Year five have enjoyed reading our key text for this half term and producing high quality disucssion and artwork. We made pastel representations of our thoughts and feelings and put them on our display. We then generated clouds of advice for children in our class and placed them on the display too. These are a daily reminder that we are all here to help if we are feeling stressed, worried or overwhelmed.
Welcome back to Year 5!
Our new classroom layout!
It has been lovely seeing the children coming back to school so positively and settling in so well. We have put measures in place to keep everybody safe. You can see our new classroom layout here. Each child has thier own set of equipment and separate tables to enable safe distancing.
We are looking forward to getting stuck into our great learning, and spending time in our class bubble!
