Our Mission Statement

We say..

“Following in Jesus’ footsteps, we grow together in faith and understanding.”

Our children say..

St. Dominic’s helps me to be the very best I can be, as a child of God.”

Our Mission Statement underpins all that is done at our school. We aim to create and maintain an atmosphere where every person in our school community is valued and respected, regardless of race, gender and ability. We expect and encourage children to work hard and to respect their environment. We hope to encourage positive self-esteem and a sense of belonging.

St. Dominic's School enjoys positive, valued relationships within the parish and community which foster a sense of continuity and commitment. We work closely with the Diocese, the Dominican Community and the Parish. Our School Chaplain is Fr. Joseph and he says masses, leads liturgies and talks to the children on an informal basis. He also provides support and advice for staff on liturgical themes. Children at St. Dominic's visit the church regularly throughout their school life.

Faith Development

We aim to offer opportunities for pupils to develop an understanding of their faith and develop spiritually, morally, socially and culturally. The children's faith is developed by the use of the 'The Way, The Truth, The Life' programme which is used consistently throughout the school.

Participation in Feast Days throughout the year and regular worship in classes and assemblies are an integral part of the children's faith development. Preparation for the sacraments of First Confession and First Holy Communion take place when the children are in Year 3. The school works closely with the parish and home, in preparing the children for these important stages in their faith development.
