Dear Parents/Carers,

We hope that you have had a good week, we have had another wonderful week at school, all the children are working really hard and are enjoying their learning.

This week the children have really enjoyed mixing in their phases at break times as it has given them the opportunity to mix with friends from other classes and finally use the playground equipment once more.

Next week we will be moving to soft start at the beginning of the school day, which means that ALL the children can come into school independently from 8.40am using the gates in the table below to limit mixing.

EYFS and Year 1 parents will be able to drop off their children at the EYFS gate and their children will be escorted to class by an adult.

At the end of the day parents will be welcomed back onto the school playgrounds to collect their children. This is fantastic as it gives both parents and staff an opportunity to get to know each other better- which has been missing from school for so long. From talking to parents, I know that both they and indeed the staff, are looking really looking forward to this return to normality!

We are slightly staggering the collection times to ease the pressure on the KS1 playground and are allowing our Year 6 children to have their own exit. This is because many of our Year 6 children do walk home alone as they prepare for secondary school. If your Year 6 child does not walk home alone and they have a sibling at school they will join the sibling’s line at the end of the day for collection. If they do not have a sibling at school and are being collected by a parent please collect from Alan Cheales Way gate.

Finally, you will have probably noticed that all staff have continued to wear masks at drop off and collection times at school for their protection.

Unfortunately cases are still on the rise and we want to do all that we can to protect everyone in the school community. Although it is wonderful that parents are coming back onto the school playgrounds it is a big change which has the potential to increase the risk of transmission of the virus. With this is mind we are asking that all parents please wear a mask when they are on the playgrounds your help and co-operation with this is much appreciated.

Let’s keep each other safe!

Have a wonderful and hopefully sunny weekend

From all the staff at St Dominic’s
