Maths Champions

Maths is such an important life-skill and is a core subject in our daily curriculum. We use times tables to help with all different kinds of problems and it helps the children to practice these as much as possible.

Key Stage 2 classes have been taking part in the Camden ‘Spring Slam” Maths competition for the last several weeks. This is an exciting times table competition where each class works together as a team to complete a weekly times table test and competes against forty other primary schools. The children been really enthusiastic about the competition and we’ve all been very impressed with the fantastic attitude shown and how each class has tried to achieve their best every week. At the end of the competition, St. Dominic’s was the third highest scoring school overall. The Year 6 class were also the individual highest scoring Year 6 group out of all the schools taking part – congratulations to them and to all the year groups for the effort they put into the ‘Spring Slam’.

The ‘Grand Final’ event took place on Friday 22nd March with teams from all schools represented. One child from each Key Stage 2 class represented the school in the team and took part in different maths challenges and games. Each child then competed in the individual year group challenges and did a wonderful job representing their year group. Congratulations to our Year 6 representative who also won their year group final. The team included Ainoghene, Barry, Ava-Marie and Maciej and they are shown below with the trophy and certificate awarded for these successes.
