Observational Drawing in Year 2
St John have had a very busy week full of exciting hands-on learning and new experiences. We are very lucky to have a weekly lesson lead by our resident artist and this week we began to learn about observational drawing. We spent some time out on the playground to look closely at our view of St Dominic's Church. Everyone was very focused and the results were amazing. After that, we used charcoal and pastels to imitate the style of Vincent Van Gogh's work; creating a variety of different patterns.
We also visited Hampstead Heath and had a session with 'Heath Hands' where we learnt about the wildlife that can be found there. Did you know a bat the size of a child's thumb can eat up to 3,000 insects in one night!?
We also searched for different items within our boundaries and made it to the top of Parliament Hill viewpoint.
