We had a special celebration in school last Friday 10th June, to celebrate Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth’s 90th birthday. We were blessed to have fantastic weather on the day and it was a really happy and joyous celebration.
The children made a fantastic effort to enter into the spirit of the day and there was a wonderful display of King and Queen, Prince and Princess costumes throughout the classes and other outfits which combined the red, white and blue colours of the Union Jack. The children really enjoyed all the different activities taking place which helped them to learn more about The Queen and her role in this country and in other countries around the world.
There were different arts and crafts activities taking place, including a crown making competition in each class, and we had the chance to enjoy all the wonderful outfits created by the children during assembly.
The children also enjoyed a very special lunch together that day. The lunch tables were brought outside into the playground and we decorated classes and the playground with bunting and other decorations made by the children. They had a picnic lunch together and there was a great street party atmosphere. The cupcakes were even decorated with an iced ‘90’ and were delicious! Thank you to all the children for helping to make this a very special day and one we will remember for a long time at school.
