Remembrance Day

In the month of November, we have been thinking about Remembrance day and how we live in a free and safe democracy. We started the month with a Mass to celebrate All Saints Day. The Mass was led by our Year 5 class who read so beautifully and helped us think about all the special people in our Church who have been made Saints. Thank you to all the Year 5 children and also to Miss Hoare and Miss Scanlon for working incredibly hard to prepare in such a short time.

We have also been thinking about why November is the month of remembrance and we also prepared for Remembrance Sunday. During assemblies and lessons we have talked about the poppy as a symbol for remembrance and why the British Legion sells poppies to help members of the armed forces and their families. On Remembrance day itself, Monday 11th November, we observed the two minute National silence here in school. Thank you to our Year 6 pupils who have been selling poppies and for everyone who supported this so generously.

Please take a look at the photos below of our school remembrance displays and some of our children's work. Thank you to Miss Hoare again who spent time on creating the beautiful display.
