Scarlet Fever
Dear Parent/Carer,
We do not wish to cause any worry but we wanted to let you know that a child in school has been diagnosed with Scarlet Fever. The appropriate medical treatment is being undertaken but we thought it would be helpful to share some guidance we have received.
If your child shows any of the following symptoms you should seek medical advice.
- Red blotches that turn into a fine pink rash
- Swollen neck glands
- loss of appetite
- nausea or vomiting
- a white coating on the tongue,
- a general feeling of being unwell
The advice school has been given is that once medical treatment commences the fever usually lasts 24 hours and children can return to school.
