'Welcome' Mass at St. Dominic's Church
We celebrated our ‘Welcome and Start of School Year’ Mass last week in St. Dominic’s Church. This was an opportunity for the school community to gather together and pray for a happy and successful year for pupils, staff and families. Mass was celebrated by the School Chaplain,
Fr. Lawrence Lew, and Year 6 pupils in St. Martin’s class led the readings and prayers.
The children read very confidently and reverently and were a great example to the younger year groups who will take turns to lead other Masses during the year. The Year 5 pupils also did a fantastic job leading the singing, accompanied by our music teacher, Mr Gamage.
Thank you to all the children for participating so well in the Mass and to Miss Knight and the Year 6 staff for preparing them so well. Thanks also to parents and other family members who joined us for the Mass to celebrate the start of a new year in school. It was also lovely to have other members of the Parish join us for the Mass. Several parishioners spoke to Ms Giverin and I after the Mass to say how impressed they were with the children leading the Mass and the behaviour of all the classes. They also asked us to pass on their thanks for being able to join such a beautiful Mass and singing. We are always very proud of how the children represent the school and wanted to pass these lovely compliments on.
