World Book Day

Following on from a very successful ‘Book Week’ earlier in the year, we celebrated ‘World Book Day’ in school on Thursday 7th March. The children took part in reading themed activities during the day which encouraged them to read for enjoyment as much as possible and try different books. The children also dressed as a favourite book character and shared their costumes at assemblies. There was an amazing variety of story characters from modern and traditional stories and across the whole range of stories imaginable.

We had a wonderful selection of fairytale characters, heroes and villains, human, animal and imaginary fiction characters! A prize was awarded to the winning costume in each class but a very big thank you to all the children for making such a fantastic effort with costumes. It was lovely to see how much the children enjoyed taking part in this event and the detail that had gone into their outfits. Thank you also for your support with costumes, the creativity and hard work that had gone into them was very impressive.

Each child received a £1 voucher which they can spend to help buy a book in any book shop. There is usually a special book of short stories sold to celebrate World Book Day costing £1 and the voucher can be used just for this.
