Our Class Saint
St Joseph
Saint Joseph is the husband of Mary and Jesus’ earthly father. Joseph was chosen by God as a trustworthy guardian and protector of Mary and Jesus. An angel visited Joseph to tell him that his wife, Mary, was going to have a baby and the baby would be the Son of God. Joseph looked after Mary on the way to Bethlehem before Jesus was born and continued to look after Mary and Jesus when they had to flee to Egypt because of King Herod. Later, the angel appeared again and told Joseph when Herod had died and that it was safe to return to the Holy Land. Joseph, Mary and Jesus settled in Nazareth and Saint Joseph lived a faithful life. He always showed great commitment to God and did as the Lord wanted him to do, no matter how difficult it was. Saint Joseph was a carpenter and he taught Jesus to be a carpenter too.
St Joseph is the patron saint of many countries including Mexico, Canada and Belgium. He is also the patron saint of families, fathers, travellers, craftsmen, engineers and workers. St Joseph’s Day is celebrated on 19th March.
