RE Inspection 2017

RE Inspection Report 2017

In October 2017 St. Dominic’s was visited by three Inspectors from Westminster Diocese, this is part of the Inspection process for all Catholic schools in the Diocese. Inspectors looked at the Religious Education (RE) teaching and learning that takes place and the opportunities the children have to be part of a faith community.

The RE Report is now published and I am delighted to tell you the Inspectors have recognised all the work that has been done by the school to maintain our high standards in RE and the good and outstanding practice in place.

There are two separate overall outcomes on the school’s performance in RE. The first is to do with the quality of our curriculum, how well children learn in lessons and the progress they make. The Inspectors found this to be overall ‘Good,’ and that “The quality of teaching at St. Dominic’s in religious education is outstanding.”

The second outcome refers to the Catholic life of the school. This considers how well the children understand the importance of following their faith in their daily lives and understanding its practices and traditions. We were very pleased to see the Inspectors also found this work to be of a high standard. They judged it to be overall’ Good’ and that “The experience of prayer and worship that the pupils receive is outstanding.”

In addition, they agreed that “The pupils show an outstanding commitment to helping others and they can talk about the reasons for it based on the teaching of Jesus Christ.”

These outcomes are a reflection of our hard working, very well motivated pupils, who are actively engaged in all their lessons. In addition to our fantastic children, we have a wonderful team of staff who are committed to ensuring that every child is provided with the best learning opportunities. The staff work incredibly hard to make learning enjoyable and help children reach their potential. This work is well supported by our parents and families and also by our Parish Team and School Chaplain, Fr.  Lawrence.
